How it plays
How OGame plays
OGame is a strategy game of numbers in space. Metal, crystal and deuterium mines fund research and shipyards; fleets move between planets on real flight times, and expeditions into unexplored space can return resources, Dark Matter or nothing at all, and sometimes lose the fleet.
Other players are the main danger and the main opportunity. Alliances share defence and targets, and a player who logs off with a fleet parked at home is an invitation. New universes open often, so a newcomer can start with everyone else.
Your first half hour
- 0–5 minSign in to the Gameforge lobby and pick the newest English universe.
- 5–15 minBuild metal and crystal mines and a solar plant; the opening tasks walk you through them.
- 15–30 minQueue research, read about fleet-saving before you build your first ships, and note when the next log-in will be needed.
Accounts and ages
Registration asks for an email address and a password, as for every Gameforge game; the same login opens Tanoth and Ikariam.
Gameforge's page shows a USK 0 label for OGame, and its terms ask for a parent's consent for minors. The raids and alliance politics suit patient older players best.
